Indian Head massage-

What is it?

Indian Head Massage includes neck, shoulder and facial relaxation massage. Indian head massage also known as Champissage, is a form of therapy with roots in ancient Ayurvedic techniques. It primarily targets the head, neck, shoulders, and occasionally the upper arms. The use of oils is integral to the massage, so it's advisable not to have your hair styled beforehand or if you have plans immediately after. The treatment begins with the scalp and progresses to areas prone to tension build-up. This therapy helps alleviate stress and tension, improve circulation, and enhance blood flow, thereby promoting vitality. It can invigorate physical energy, reduce fatigue, and foster mental clarity and concentration. Due to its straightforward approach and proven benefits, Indian Head Massage has become a popular and widely adopted complementary therapy.

What to expect in a session

1. Before the Massage

  • Consultation:

    • You will be asked about any health concerns, preferences, or areas of tension.
    • You’ll be asked if you’re comfortable having oils used during the treatment.
  • Setting the Environment:
    • The massage typically takes place in a relaxing, quiet setting with dim lighting and soothing music.
    • You will be asked to bare your shoulders from the armpits upwards and be given a wrap to put on.
    • To lay on the massage bed face down to begin with then to turn over later.

2. During the Massage

  • Laying down:

    • You will begin laying on your front face down on a head rest, with a wrap around you chest and a blanket for warmth on top with a towel on top of that for oils.

    • Then shoulders, neck and head massages will be done

    • You then will turn over and have the same items covering you as we continue

    • Then your face, neck, shoulders and head will continue to be massaged

  • Focus Areas:

    • I work on your shoulders, neck, scalp, and face, using a variety of techniques such as kneading, tapping, and circular motions

    • Gentle pressure may be applied to release tension and improve circulation.

  • Oils (Optional):

    • Essential oils or massage oils may be used to enhance relaxation and nourish the skin, particularly for the scalp.
    • If oils are applied, the therapist will massage them into your scalp and hair.
  • Techniques:

    • Stimulation of pressure points on the scalp and face to relieve stress and improve energy flow.
    • Rhythmic movements to release muscle tension in the shoulders and neck.

3. Sensations During the Massage

  • You may feel immediate relaxation as tension is released.
  • Some areas might feel tender if they are particularly tight, but the pressure can be adjusted to suit your comfort.
  • You will be asked if the pressure is ok.

4. After the Massage

  • Relaxation:

    • You may feel deeply relaxed and calm.
    • It’s common to experience a sensation of lightness or mental clarity.
  • Hydration:

    • Drinking water is recommended to flush out toxins released during the massage.
  • Hair Appearance:

    • If oils were used, your hair may feel greasy but nourished—bring a hair tie or cap if needed.
    • Dont plan on going out afterwards, your hair will be messy
