Hypnotherapy-What is it?
Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic approach that employs hypnosis to aid individuals in achieving relaxation and focus, thereby increasing
their receptiveness to positive suggestions. This technique can facilitate habit changes, alleviate stress and anxiety, and enable healthy trauma processing. A hypnotherapy session typically
incorporates psychotherapy to expedite the healing process.
During hypnotherapy, individuals experience profound relaxation while remaining conscious. They close their eyes, focusing solely on the
therapist's voice, free from visual distractions.
Contrary to the common belief that hypnosis equates to deep sleep, it actually induces a heightened state of awareness. The conscious
mind temporarily recedes, allowing the unconscious mind to become more active. In this state, therapists can implant suggestions that individuals carry into their daily lives, where these ideas can
flourish.
In England, the roles of a stage hypnotist and a therapist are distinct; one cannot hold both titles. Therapy is a structured and
professionally monitored practice aimed at fostering healing and positive growth. Conversely, stage hypnosis is designed solely for entertainment, lacking any formal structure or
limitations.
The goal of hypnotherapy is to rewire the mind to eliminate unwanted behaviours, conquer irrational fears, phobias, negative thoughts,
and repressed emotions, promoting a natural and positive transformation.
What Hypnotherapy Is Not
- You won’t lose control or reveal secrets.
- You won’t “get stuck” in hypnosis.
